ARTIST STATEMENT
I am an experimental visual artist whose works explore socio-political topics relating to contemporary times. Through bold faces, indigo blue body tones with Gold, Liquify images and fabric collages, my work is a careful expression of observations and the artist's opinions in a subtle yet engaging medium. The figurative expressions in my works are telling of African Sculptures, this being a conscious invitation into the Yoruba customs and systems.
Using painting, mural art, installation, illustration, wearable art and woodwork it is an encounter with the subconscious and conscious of being and its parts in the contemporary period that my works sort to project, inhabiting abractions to create a more cohesive space for conversations. My works flows into areas of Love, power, politics, gender all along infusing African cultural identity and metaphor, as a mode of archival and sharing these ancient systems with in new forms
Best known for my use of charcoal and acrylics on canvas, and most recently, neon paints, my works aim to project the relationship between class, gender, social and political dogmas and their effect on the African continent.
